Dried blood and crushed bones 2011-2013

The source of this group of works is a monumental stone relief from 645 BC, depicting the pose of courage and strength of king Ashurbanipal during a prearranged lion hunt. This great artwork is manifesting a notion of sublime beauty and an understanding of form, line, movement and space but at the same time revolts by its glorification of cruelty, maiming and killing.
