In the work "Pomme de Paradis" transparent layers convey the different phases of transformation of organic matter, which can be perceived by the viewer as a whole. Each layer captures a moment of the process of change, where the subject loses some of its original properties and evolves into pure form, texture and colour thereby concentrating abstract, visual values. The title refers to the popular name which the local inhabitants of the Limousin, France give to a specific apple, widely cultivated for home made cider. Nowadays these big old apple trees stay everywhere abandoned and each autumn the ripe apples colour, fall and form deep yellow circles in the green grass under them. Then the fruits go through a cycle of rapid change in size, form, texture and colour before they desintegrate all together. |
